Agile gets a lot of bashing, it’s easily corrupted, but true Agile is about returning to learning. The learning is integral to concepts such as BDD, TDD, Retrospectives and Scrums. They all admit that we really don’t know what we need to do and if we did we’re not that sure about how we should go about it. We learn through both human and scientific methods. We appreciate that we don’t know what we don’t know and our learning is never done. When we build we continue to learn. We learn from as many people as we can. We are never afraid to look the fool, our goal is to find our faults. Right now Agility is humility, one day we may be craftsman again.
Learning
We live in a world where we are already expected to know, where competence is assumed, but competence disappeared with craftsmanship to be replaced by production lines. Hierarchical management dug the nail in the coffin as the goal became moving up to the next job rather than getting good at the one you’re in.
